Material Selection

With the incredible range of specialist materials now available to the designer, Amies' knowledgeable team will, on a fit-for-purpose basis, help select the most suitable plastic to meet your specific moulding requirements.  This help in material selection is particularly valuable because of the increased use of Engineering thermoplastics to replace metal components.

Toolmaking

Although Amies does not have an in-house toolmaking facility, it benefits from a close relationship with several local toolmakers on a ‘horses for courses’ basis.   Knowing our toolmakers strengths and weaknesses, their manufacturing capabilities and their machine capabilities, ensures the correct ones are selected for the competitive tendering process. This results in the most cost effective tooling package for our customers whilst guaranteeing the quality of the tool to be fit for its intended purpose and lifespan.

From the earliest design stage we encourage maximum communication between ourselves, our customer and our selected toolmaker in an attempt to minimize the nasty surprises which this process can throw up.

Project Development

One of Amies’ major strengths is its willingness and ability to stick through the development stages of any project to its successful conclusion, a process that is never without problems and as every designer knows, can be extremely time consuming. Amies and its toolmakers utilise a wide range of software packages which ensures compatibility in sharing computer files with designers.
